Abstract

Medical education is undergoing rapid transformation in response to evolving healthcare systems, technological innovation, and changing learner expectations. Traditional teacher-centered models are increasingly supplemented—or replaced—by learner-centered, competency-based approaches. Despite these advances, significant practical challenges remain for both educators and students, particularly in balancing educational quality, resource constraints, and clinical relevance. This narrative review examines the major teaching methods currently used in medical education, analyzes their strengths and limitations, and highlights the real-world obstacles encountered in implementation. Understanding these challenges is essential for designing effective, sustainable, and context-appropriate educational strategies.
