Abstract

Contemporary medical education increasingly emphasizes integrative, competency-based approaches that link basic sciences with clinical reasoning. This manuscript examines modern strategies for teaching inflammation-related morphological changes to medical students, with a focus on structure–function correlation and the use of digital pathology. Using the upper respiratory tract as a representative model, the study highlights how inflammation induces predictable epithelial, stromal, vascular, and glandular alterations that directly impair organ function. The results demonstrate that educational approaches incorporating comparative morphology, digital microscopy, and functional interpretation significantly enhance conceptual understanding when compared with traditional descriptive teaching. These findings support the growing role of morphology-centered, technology-enhanced instruction in developing diagnostic competence and clinically oriented thinking among medical students.
