Abstract

English-medium instruction (EMI) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP) have become increasingly significant in Uzbekistan’s medical education. Driven by globalization, the need to access international literature, and national reforms, Uzbek medical institutions are integrating English into curricula. This review examines current research on pedagogical strategies, student outcomes, challenges, and future directions in teaching English to medical students in Uzbekistan. Findings underscore improved professional communication and academic competencies, alongside persistent challenges in language proficiency and resource allocation.
